Eego needed a plastic shell to house in electronic components of a sports sensor device. The device was to be mounted on a bicycle and would work with sensors attached to other parts of the vehicle. The rider need to be able to safely operate it while cycling and the assembly also needed to be protected from dust and moisture.

Components of the device were provided and studied to understand what features needed to be considered during the design process. The device enclosure needed to be simple and as compact as possible. Considering that the device was designed to have tactile switches instead of a touchscreen, and that the users would possibly need to operate the device with wet hads due to sweat or rain, using rubber on the buttons made perfect sense.

Initial designs explored on the positioning of the buttons and the manner of attaching the device onto the bike handle. Ease of assembly and ingress protection also had to be factore in during the design process. The brand also wanted to explore having a custom clamp design, and the challenge was balancing ease of detaching, with stability and security of the device.
The modified designs came very close to what the brand desired and a decision was made to marry some of the features into the final design. A 3D model of the final design was printed and tested by the brand and further modifications were made further to increase durability and improve ease of assembly.
